10th Feb 2008 Cell Outline & Notices

Cell Meeting Outline week beginning Sunday 10th February 2008

2Corinthians 8:1-15

Welcome

When do you think you have been extravagant?

Word

Read 2 Corinthians 8 v 1-15

Were there any particular points from the sermon that made you think differently about giving?

Here are some reasons for giving. Can you think of any others?
Can you put them in order of importance?

Example of others. Expression of love for God. Shamed into it.

Desire to share. It is the law. To look good. Act of worship. Response to the life of Jesus. If I give I will be blessed.

Does the motive for giving make any difference to the gift?

How would you explain to a new Christian the fact that giving is part of discipleship?

Worship

Read ‘When I survey the wondrous cross’. Pause after each verse and think about what it is saying to you about your possessions.

Spend some time praising Jesus for what he has done for you as an individual.

Think about your giving as an act of worship in response to God’s love.

Listen to a recording of the hymn.

Witness

Are there any things that you could do to live more simply and so release more to give away?

If you found you had more money e.g. a legacy or a pay rise or the end of a loan what would you do with the extra cash?

How would you explain this to family and friends?

Are there any ways you could financially support your missions more?
